Post Summary:

The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies (SLLCS) warmly welcomes applications for the position of Schuler Assistant Professor in German Applied Linguistics. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, research active team and will be a key member contributing to teaching and research excellence and innovation.

Post Status: This is a full time post, 5-year fixed term, with tenure track.

Salary: Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€40,594 - €97,588 per annum; https://www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf]. Appointment at postdoctoral level starts on point 8 (Merged Scale, €56,630) in the first instance, honouring the relevant scale point for colleagues already in the public service in Ireland.

SLLCS is one of the largest of the twelve Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and has over 140 members of staff in all, including full time academics, language assistants and lectors, part-time teachers, and professional staff. SLLCS is made up of the Departments of French, German, Hispanic Studies, Italian, Irish and Celtic Studies, Near and Middle Eastern Studies, Russian and Slavonic Studies, the Centre for European Studies, the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, the Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation, the Centre for Forced Migration Studies, the Centre for Resistance Studies, the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, the Herzog Centre for Near Eastern and Jewish Religions and Culture, and the HCI-funded Centre for Global Intercultural Communications.
