We look for an experienced bike mechanic for a seasonal position at the bike and ski workshop. For the right candidate a permanent position can be discussed.

Work responsibilities include

• responsibility for maintenance and assembling rental bikes (we have in stock primarily touring bikes and e-bikes, but also mtb-, road-, and fat- bikes),
• service of bikes delivered for repair by our customers,
• maintenance of other equipment from Tromsø Outdoor offer (training and instructions will be provided),
• occasionally help at Tromsø Outdoor rental center (eg. renting equipment out, advising our guests on local activities destinations, keeping order in the shop and workshop) without major responsibility for daily operations,
• administrative work connected to the workshop, customer care, ordering parts, stock control, communication with the customers.

The right candidate with experience and interests in the field can be considered for a leading position with more responsibilities:

• administration works related to the workshop - setting up prices, service range, budgeting, ordering parts, tools, and articles needed in the workshop etc.
• coordination and administration work related to bike and ski services offered locally to Tromsø Outdoor customers in our shop and on "remote workshop" outside of our premises,
• administration of digital customer management system etc.
• marketing and promotion of the workshop

Required competencies and personal qualities

• experience and extensive knowledge in bike mechanics
• good communication and English language skills
• basic level computer skills
• driving license is be an advantage but is not necessary
• Norwegian language proficiency is an advantage but is not necessary
• attachment to the details and being used to organize workplace
• valid permission to work and live in Norway or EU citizenship
• positive, creative and solution-oriented attitude
• enjoying and used to working in a flexible international environment
• being used to working independently and taking responsibility for work tasks

Working Scheme

Variable shifts between 8:00 and 18:00, usually 7.5 hours daily, planned in advance.

100 % position seasonal project position- ca.37.5 h/week, we can offer work with flexible time frames.

Work start: April or May 2024.

Work end: 15.10.2024 or change into permanent position.

Part-time position can be offered to interested candidates with relevant experience, conditions to discuss.

We can provide the opportunity to join schooling organized by our bike and ski suppliers.

Tromsø Outdoor AS has been providing professional guiding and rental services in the Tromsø area since 2006.

We guide skiing, snowshoeing, cycling, and hiking on day trips in Tromsø surroundings, and are involved in many partners' holiday packages in Northern Norway, with guiding, goods delivery and rental, logistics, safety assessment etc.

In 2017 we decided to start developing a bike and ski workshop beyond servicing our own rental gear, and started offering repair services for the local customers in Tromsø. Since then we have invested a lot in professional equipment and building a team in our workshop.

Now we look for the third mechanic to join us - preferably from May 2024.

Our main focus is on service quality, local cooperation, and creating a good work environment within the company. This winter our team consisted of 21 employees from 15 countries - 7 members on permanent positions. For the summer we plan a team of 12-13 employees.
