Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:

DTU Space is looking for an engineer with a geodetic background for technical development and maintenance of permanent GNSS stations primarily in Greenland. The network consists of about sixty stations and a major part of these have autonomous solar power systems and data transmission via satellite communications. The stations are serviced yearly from helicopter-based expeditions during periods of 4-6 weeks, primarily in July, August and/or September. Conditions may be challenging at times.

The job

You will work with technical design, testing and deployment of installations in Greenland. Fieldwork also includes geodetic terrestrial measurements between different sensors like GNSS antennas and sensors for monitoring ocean tide, meteorology etc. The job will further include operational monitoring of the performance of the stations and preparations for the next operations and maintenance field trip.

Design and development of stations is based on requirements from the government administration in the Kingdom of Denmark as well as obligations towards the international scientific community. The GNET network is owned by the Agency of Data Supply and Infrastructure (SDFI). All activities regarding GNET are coordinated with SDFI.

Similar development, fieldwork and consultancy in other geodetic application areas may also apply to the position. Currently, scintillation receivers and sea level gauge instruments are a part of the team’s tasks.

The position is affiliated with the division for Geodesy and Earth Observation and under the research group “Geodynamics” working with changes and modelling of the solid Earth, ice sheets and oceans.

Our expectations of you

You must be an engineer or technician with knowledge about geophysics, geodesy, GNSS and geodetic GNSS and have practical skills. We expect that you have a background and/or are interested in learning skills within the following topics:

  • Geodetic type GNSS receivers
  • GNSS data formats
  • Processing of GNSS data using scientific software
  • Geodetic terrestrial levelling and triangulation
  • Data quality test and monitoring
  • Technical design of permanent GNSS stations
  • Testing of power- and data communication systems
  • Fieldwork under primitive and challenging conditions
  • Helicopter/fixed wing logistics planning
  • Safety procedures under field work
