Worker Rights Organiser - Job Description

The Worker Rights Organiser will be responsible for reaching out to, advising and representing people that experience exploitation and high levels of non-compliance with employment rights and health and safety laws.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide direct representation and casework supports especially regarding employment/labour rights and compliance matters.

    To reach out and build relationships with workers across multiple nationalities and languages.

    Support and guide individuals and groups to develop and implement actions to assert and claim their rights.

    Assist people to develop their skills, knowledge and analysis through education sessions on employment rights, health and safety, organising.

    Assist in preparing and conducting research, surveys and reports.

Person specifications

Essential:

    Education to degree level in law or equivalent.

    Prior experience in advocacy and representation especially in employment/labour related compliance matters.

    Excellent working knowledge of Ireland’s employment rights and health and safety laws.

    Proficiency and/or working knowledge in additional languages.

    Capacity at using technology for documentation, data management, and virtual communication.

    A self-starter who has the ability to be creative, flexible and innovative.

    Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Ability to work in a diverse, multilingual and intercultural context.

Desirable

    Good working knowledge or Ireland’s immigration system and social welfare entitlements.  

    Previous workplace or community organising experience

    Full clean drivers' licence
