Transport Dispatcher – Mayo Community Car initiative

Mayo North East is seeking applications for a part time Community Car Despatcher to support the delivery of a key service for the Ukrainian refugee community living in County Mayo. The Community Car initiative is aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees who have been offered temporary accommodation in rural locations of County Mayo under the “Offer A Home” appeal. This initiative will offer a dedicated transport service for these individuals and will aim to transport them from their rural location to nearby towns and villages where local services or local and national transport links can be accessed.

Role:

Under general supervision, the transport dispatcher will schedule and dispatch the Community Car in accordance with needs identified, available resources and in line with standard operating procedures. He/she is also responsible for the inputting, maintenance, and submission of the required monitoring data for the relevant funding bodies.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Respond to passenger service requests in a prompt and professional manner and schedule transport services to meet the needs

• Determine specific service needs in relation to accessibility and location. Research addresses and verify pick-up and destination information.

• Provide general information to current and potential passengers (timetables, public transport service timetables).

• Enter passenger information on database. Monitor, review, update and maintain the data base regularly or as required.

• Prepare schedules and passenger information for drivers.

• Communicate with transport drivers to discuss passenger logs, passenger requests and scheduling issues.
