Applications are invited for Band 5 Staff Nurse with significant demonstrable experience to join the current Emergency Department team. We are offering an excellent opportunity for nurses to develop their skills in an ever-changing environment. We need you to be dynamic, motivated team players and possess excellent verbal and written, communication / people skills. The successful candidates will be expected to deliver high quality care within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team. You will have demonstrable post registration experience within an acute setting. You will possess previous experience which has given you the skills to prioritise and deliver high standards of care in a sometimes pressurised situations. You will be supported by an experienced inter-professional team which includes nurses, doctors and allied health professionals. As a department we have been given trauma centre status. This is an exciting time for the department and a time for us to invest in change in order to deliver a top class service. As a band 5 in the department we want to develop your skills to be able to work in triage, majors, minors, resuscitation, paediatrics. You will be responsible for the care that you deliver, education, equipment maintenance and begin the development of becoming an expert in the field of emergency medicine. We see approximately 90,000 patients a year, from both rural and urban environments, with a broad case mix and we pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive department. We receive excellent feedback from trainees and students. We want to continue to build this reputation, along with our reputation for providing high quality clinical care at the cutting edge of our speciality. We are looking for applicants who will contribute towards this, and who will help us drive the development of modern emergency care in our local health community. You will be part of a team of people who will be instrumental in developing and delivering our plans moving forward and will contribute positively to the development of the Majors, Minors and Trauma patient pathways. You will be required to rotate between day duty and night duty including weekends. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
