THE COMPANY

Celonic is a *Pure Play* Biologics Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO). Our mission is to help our customers, primarily small to large Biotech Companies, bring life- saving and improving drugs effectively to the market using innovative, *next generation* bioprocessing technologies.

Celonic has a state-of-the-art Biologics Development Center in Basel, Switzerland (headquarters), and clinical and commercial GMP manufacturing facilities in Heidelberg, Germany. Currently more than 500 highly qualified employees are working at Celonic and due to the expansion of the company, we are looking for committed and qualified employees to join our team.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Vice-President Business and Commercial Development, the Senior Director Commercial Development will be responsible for the strategic thought leadership and commercial support for the acquisition of Clients requiring outsourced Biologics Development and Manufacturing Services with a primary focus on Small to Large Biotech Customers.

For this position, we are looking for a motivated candidate with excellent technical and communication skills, a proven expert with a track record of delivering business results in the Biologics CDMO space. The candidate must be able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, high growth environment while displaying strong team player behaviors and problem solving skills.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Deliver top-line revenue and bottom-line profit for respective manufacturing assets, products and services, and multi-year deal pipeline in line with the Company’s strategic ambition.

- Develop and implement the company’s Commercial Strategy and *Go to Market roadmap* for Development as well as GMP Clinical and Commercial Manufacturing.

- Lead strategic customer relationships, discussions and contract negotiations ensuring alignment with other functions, the site, and line management.

- Provide commercial input to technical and operational questions, guide/lead proposal development with the proposal’s team, and explore extensions to standard service offerings in line with the company’s innovation agenda.

- Build, lead, train and inspire the Sales Business Development team to deliver annual revenue, new customer acquisitions and growth goals.

- Represent the Commercial Function in various Teams, and other Cross Functional  Governances (e.g. Sales & Operational Planning, Innovation, Proposals Steering Team, Customer Program Management, Business Cases) and provide key data (e.g. Sales and Pipeline Forecasts, Deal Status etc.)

- Support the CEO and champion the implementation of the *Change Agenda* to bring the team to a higher, fact-based, professional world-class organization with a mindset of continuous improvement.

- Be proactive in taking on additional responsibilities that contribute to the team's success.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Advanced/Master’s degree in Life Sciences, preferably with a Business Qualification (ideally MBA) in addition; or a Business Degree with relevant life science industry experience.

- 7-10+ years of experience in the Biologics CDMO Drug Substance sector in a Global Commercial Development/Business Development role.

- Strong network of existing relationships with Biotech and Pharma Customers in Europe (must) and U.S. (desirable)

- Demonstrated strong negotiation and closing skills with customers including understanding of technical contracts (MSA, TSA etc.)

- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively cross-functionally in particular with Proposals, Operations and Technical teams.

- Strong financial acumen, with an in-depth understanding of how to manage a P&L

- Self-starter, with a proactive *entrepreneurial* mindset/approach.

- A strong team player, able to collaborate with senior management, colleagues and peers in a matrix organisational structure.

- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Ability to work with and influence more senior stakeholders within a CDMO organization.

- Able to function and even thrive in ambiguous situations.

- Strong Analytical, strategic thinking.

- Fluent in English (oral and written).
