The core responsibility of the Rural Development Team Leader is to manage and oversee the LEADER programme, as well as a number of other with a rural development focus (some of which are outlined above), as assigned by the CEO.

The LEADER Programme in Offaly seeks to build a sustainable future for Offaly so that the citizens of Offaly can live, work and enjoy their life in their community.

The rural development team leader will work with the RDP team (development officers and administration) to promote innovative and strategic rural development via the resources of the LEADER programme.  LEADER in Offaly will:

    Recognise the importance of prioritising marginalised, excluded and under-engaging communities

    Consider climate action as a cross-cutting consideration throughout the strategy, as well as through its dedicated sub-themes.

    Provide support to those areas where LEADER is the principal or only funder

Following a successful tender application to deliver the LEADER programme 2023 – 2027, the Team Leader will be responsible for the overall implementation, and evaluation, of the Local Development Strategy (LDS) for Co Offaly.

The Team Leader will be responsible for providing supervision and support for staff in relation to the work and their ongoing professional development and also works as part of the wider management team to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation.
