3DOM research unit (Centre for Information & Communication Technologies - ICT) is looking for a young researcher with good knowledge in reality-based 3D surveying and modelling using imaging and ranging data. The candidate will work on the processing of satellite / aerial / UAV / terrestrial / underwater image blocks and huge point clouds for 3D documentation and modelling purposes as well as VR/AR for visualization and communication purposes. The candidate is also expected to perform data acquisition in the field with active and passive sensors, explorative and scientific research tasks in the photogrammetric field, sensor characterization as well as support management and dissemination activities of international projects. Job requirements: the ideal candidate should have: • Master Degree in Geomatics or in Civil Engeneering/Architecture; • Advanced knowledge in photogrammetry and laser scanning data acquisition & processing; • Knowledge of reality-based 3D modelling and visualization software; • Knowledge in VR/AR applications and tools; • Skill in graphical representations and 3D data restitution; • Ability to work autonomously; • Oral and written proficiency in English; • Self-motivation and result orientation. Additional requirements: • PhD in Geomatics, Geoinformatics or very related fields; • Experience in research institutes or R&D-oriented companies; • Participation in international teams and projects; • Scientific publications; • Creativity; • Flexibility and adaptability. Type of contract: Fixed term contract Start date: September 2017 (strict) Until December 2018 (this period can be extended upon availability of further funding.
