Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:

DTU Bioengineering is seeking to employ a Research manager who will be responsible for the continued development, research management and running of the biophysical protein characterisation laboratory and core facility within the Protein Biophysics Research group led by Prof. Alexander Buell in the Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology Section at the DTU Bioengineering Department. The protein biophysics laboratory is carrying out research projects in the areas of biomedicine, food and biomaterials. In this job, you will serve both as a Research manager, laboratory manager, and contributor. This means that you are expected to lead and oversee the work of others, help with the training of students and new employees, and do bench work.

The job

The Research manager will be in charge of the daily management and overall organization of the protein biophysics laboratory and core facility. The main responsibility is to ensure that all procedures are carried out to the highest possible standard. The goal of the work is to provide innovative contributions to the biophysical characterization of proteins of biomedical relevance, most notably alpha-synuclein and TDP-43, and to help employ cutting-edge technologies to achieve this goal. The Research manager is therefore expected to be proactively involved in introduction of and assessment of new experimental approaches, methods selection, development of protocols, and any new procedures in the protein biophysics pipeline in close collaboration with co-workers and project leaders. The Research manager will also work extensively in the lab with protein expression and purification, biochemical modification of proteins and their biophysical characterisation with different methods such as, but not limited to, light scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, mass photometry, flow-induced dispersion analysis and electron microscopy, in ongoing research projects. Other features of the job include:

Participation in recruitment, as well as supervision and training of students, PhD fellows, postdoc, visitors, and other staff in technologies and protocols used in the laboratory.

Participation in ongoing scientific projects also involves participation in research meetings with internal and external (industrial) partners, including presentation of data and preparation of slides for such meetings.

The position has direct reference to the Head of the Protein Biophysics research group, Prof. Alexander K. Buell.

Our expectations of you

The job requires a passionate and collaborative work attitude. You are expected to bring your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for teamwork, success, innovation and excellence to your role, every day.

Specific requirements:

  • Profound research experience within protein biophysics with a relevant publication track record, and strong expertise in molecular biology and protein production.
  • Experience with assay development and execution of biophysical assays.
  • Practical experience with lab management within protein biophysics.
  • Strong technical, organizational, interpersonal communication and management skills, and exceptional reliability.
  • Master English in speaking and writing.
