Where You Would Work:  Ballina Day Service, , Co Mayo

Ballina DS is a busy scheme that supports 9 service users at present with capacity for more individuals who we hope to join our service in September as school leavers, and new referrals. Our service users age from 18yrs to 65yrs old.

We operate 9-5 Monday to Friday. Service users arrive to the service at 10am and go home at 3.45pm.

Service user needs vary and we offer training to support these needs-such as Irish Sign Language training, wheelchair clamping support, Moving & handling of people, FEDs training-amongst other mandatory training. We support individuals with aspects of personal care when required.

Some of the support we provide is outreach-this is where the service user does not physically attend the center, but meets a support worker in their own community, to develop skills.

We operate from a New Directions approach of person centeredness and offer the individual choice over every aspect of their service.

All staff support service users to travel to and from activities-either using the scheme vehicle or their own cars
