Program Manager, Sustainability

Job ID: 2038033 - Amazon EU SARL

Job summary

Amazon is committed to building a sustainable future for our customers, local communities, and the planet. Under The Climate Pledge we committed to be net-zero carbon across our business by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people that are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the sustainability of our products and supply chain.

With Print On Demand (PoD), we envision a world where customers can buy any book in any language and, where publishers and authors can distribute their titles without having to hold physical inventory, where every book is always “in-stock” and customer orders are manufactured in real-time, close to the customer and delivered on-time, helping the environment by only printing books readers want. However, that isn't enough. We are looking for a Sr Program Manager to lead operational implementation of PoD Sustainability initiatives across our global manufacturing network.

The Sr. Program Manager works cross-functionally with Amazon's PoD and wider retail business, vendors, and consultants to test and implement sustainability initiatives that will bring about measurable operational and environmental benefits. This is a high-impact senior role with an exciting opportunity to influence and deliver on our overall sustainability roadmap and goal to provide books to readers, in the most environmentally sustainable way possible.

The ideal candidate will have experience launching manufacturing sustainability initiatives globally to drive measurable improvements. The candidate must be able to define and drive operational testing and implementation across multiple regions. They should be able confidently handle complex projects and provide guidance in situations of high ambiguity, showing good judgment and continually improving their level of knowledge about Amazon's business, and relevant technologies. The candidate must have a track record of delivering impact within new environments including the ability to apply systems thinking to complex, fast moving problems. The role will engage with external partners to measure and benchmark our current operations, influence the sustainability roadmap, define products and processes using inputs from a diverse set of stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion.

Key job responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

-Testing and Validation: Develop and execute product and process level testing globally to understand impact of sustainability changes on quality and customer experience.

-Delivery: Drive timely implementation of front-line sustainability initiatives to meet broader sustainability goals within PoD. Build strong relations with business partners and key stakeholders to understand, account for, and overcome barriers to implementation.

-Scale: Build self-sustaining scalable processes to ensure implementation of sustainable solutions, through training programs, auditing execution, and measuring success across our global manufacturing operations footprint.

-Influence: Be an expert in our manufacturing processes to help influence the sustainability roadmap across the broader Amazon business, PoD, vendors, and other key stakeholders.

-Teamwork: Work cross functionally with peers globally to support training, best practices, and shared opportunities.

• 5+ years of experience working with manufacturing processes, or 2+ years within PoD Operations

• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes

• Ability to travel internationally

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or other technical field

• Experience creating and delivering training across all organizational levels

• Top notch written and verbal communication skills to convey key insights from complex analysis in summarized terms

• Sustainability Knowledge: Bring sustainability expertise to the team, influencing operational processes, consumable options, and operational waste streams to support PoD's overall sustainability roadmap.

• Experience working with teams across geographies and business units

• Demonstrated analytical skills, e.g. business trend tracking, analysis, forecasting

• Demonstrated ability to successfully influence stakeholders at all levels

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sophisticated projects and competing priorities simultaneously

• Proficiency with MS Excel, SQL, and ETL processes

• MBA preferred
