We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Engineer with expertise in CFD and HPC for a temporary 3-month position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and client requirements. The successful candidate will execute a specialized project for one of our key clients, focusing on the development, testing, and extension of interfaces between OpenFOAM (OF) and preCICE, along with supporting testing in specific case studies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Converting OpenFOAM Interface:

Upgrade and adapt an existing in-house HPC interface from OpenFOAM 7 to OpenFOAM 9, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

2. Testing and Validation:

Perform comprehensive testing of the updated OpenFOAM 9 interface using a water jet nozzle case to ensure it meets client specifications and performance standards.

3. Interface Extension:

Extend an OpenFOAM 9 interface to support an arbitrary number of liquid transfers, with a focus on multi-liquid applications as required by the client (e.g., systems involving two liquids).

4. Test Case Implementation:

Collaborate closely with the client to test the extended interface using their provided case studies, including small blast furnace models and experimental blast furnace setups.

Provide ongoing support and clear communication throughout the testing process to ensure alignment with client needs.

5. Documentation and Dissemination:

Document all development processes, testing procedures, and outcomes meticulously, adhering to the client's documentation standards.

Contribute to technical publications and reports as required by the client, facilitating the dissemination of findings within their organization and the broader scientific community.
