The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHNN, Queen Square Division, is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. With its neighbouring Institute of Neurology, it is a world leading international centre for research and training in basic and clinical neuroscience. The EEG-video telemetry unit is a self-contained dedicated unit that carries out tests for epilepsy and sleep disorders such as: • Diagnostic studies • Pre-surgical studies including ictal SPECT • Invasive studies with subdural and depth SEEG electrodes • Electrocorticography • PSG • MSLT • Actigraphy There will be opportunities for a rotation with the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology to participate in carpal tunnel clinics and peripheral nerve conduction and EP studies. The Telemetry Unit is based in the Queen Mary Wing at the NHNN, it has a total of 7 beds and operates 7 days per week with a team of specialised nurses, clinical physiologists and Consultant Neurologists/ Neurophysiologists and Sleep Physicians. Clinical Physiologists participate in a rota that covers the hours from 0800 to 1900. A vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Physiologist to provide a complex specialist service to the patients on the Telemetry unit. The post holder will undertake interpretation of results, provision of factual reports and be able to communicate these results with medical staff including presenting the data at weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings. Training will be provided in specialist areas if necessary. Candidates must have the BSc in Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent, Part I IRCP and be eligible for RCCP registration. This post is suited to a Clinical Physiologist with a few years of experience in Clinical Neurophysiology. Experience performing some of the above mentioned tests would be an advantage. Although the post is full time with occasional rostered weekend work and some shift work, candidates wishing to work part time/job share will be considered.
