About us:

The Institute for Risk Management and Insurance (INRIVER), chaired by Prof. Dr. Andreas Richter, at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, is a leading institution for research and teaching in insurance management, insurance economics, and risk management. INRIVER emphasizes strong links between academic research and industry, particularly in areas like disaster risk management, risk classification, and climate risks. The position is funded by third-party resources to support the interdisciplinary Munich Risk and Insurance Center (MRIC), housed at the institute. The successful candidate will dedicate a significant portion of their time to research aligned with the center’s goals. This is a two-year fixed-term position, with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for you:

Postdoctoral Position in Risk Management and Insurance (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

- Conduct independent research, focusing on digital transformation and strategic developments in insurance

- Lead collaborative projects with national and international partners

- Support teaching efforts, particularly in executive education and advanced insurance courses

Your qualifications:

- Doctorate in risk management, insurance, or a closely related field

- Experience managing research groups and leading strategic academic or industry projects

- Strong interest in regulatory and strategic issues in insurance markets, particularly digitization, innovation, and sustainability

- Prior university-level teaching experience with English proficiency
