The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 1-year post-Doc position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join an ongoing research project on the Measurement of Extreme Waves.

 

Expected start date and duration of employment

August 15th, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This is a fixed-term position to end one year after the start date.

 

Job description

  • Your main task within the project team will be to process and evaluate the incoming data from the LIDAR and other wave measurement equipment from the field and the AU Wave Tank facility.
  • You will be involved in the direct communications with our research partners to arrange aspects of the project execution.
  • You may be asked to contribute to the supervision of students working on related topics.
  • You may also be asked to assist in the research group’s teaching duties.

Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in wave kinematics, experimentation and/or measurements OR LIDAR measurements or similar.

  • Experience in the use of/carrying out/handling LIDAR measurements and in particular, measurements of waves
  • Teaching experience in structural dynamics and/or fluid dynamics, including wave theory
  • Expected publication track record
  • Collaboration and/or management skills
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, as you will be working in a team
 

Who we are

The Post-Doc position is connected to an ongoing research project on the evaluation of the effects of extreme waves on offshore structures. Professor Georgakis’ research group has been at the forefront of this work over the past few years in collaboration with DTU Offshore Technology Centre. Deadline

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
