Post: Post-Doctoral Researcher - Centre for Sociology of Humans and Machines (Fixed term specified purpose contract for up to 5 years with an initial funding of 2 years) (Reference: 524/2024)

Location:  The post will be based at the TU Dublin Campuse i.e. Grangegorman (Parkhouse), Blanchardstown or Tallaght.          

Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.

Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €47,412 gross per annum.  Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy.

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in week beginning 17th February 2025. The interview assessment will be 30 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 7 minutes duration.  The topic of this presentation will be as follows:

“Your PhD/Post-Doc research and how it made the world a better place”

Person Specification    

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria:

Essential

•    A Ph.D. in a relevant field in any of the Social, Computational, Natural, or Life Sciences (Essential).

•    Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards) and future scholarly output (working papers, research proposals, and ability to outline a research project (Essential).

•    Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda (Essential).

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills with a range of stakeholders, such as occupants, building professionals, industry partners and academics (Essential).

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their demonstration of meeting every essential criterion so are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria.

Desirable

•    Moderate to advanced programming experience

•    Experience in conducting online and lab behavioural experiments

•    Experience in social network analysis

•    Experience in agent-based simulations
