Policy & Advocacy Manager. Dublin. Irlanda

To lead IDEA’s policy and advocacy for Global Citizenship Education in Ireland and internationally. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in civil society, global citizenship and sustainable development policy. It is a varied role requiring strategic management, policy & advocacy expertise and collaboration with diverse partners.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordination & implementation of IDEA policy and advocacy work.

• Develop and implement IDEA’s policy & advocacy strategy.

• Advocate for increased strategic prioritisation and investment for Global Citizenship Education in Ireland, as well in European and internationally. Support IDEA members to engage in policy and advocacy, including developing  shared policy positions, analysis of policy developments, coordinating shared actions, ongoing dialogue and engagement.

• Develop & implement strategy & campaigning for a new iteration of Vision 2025, IDEA’s strategic vision for Global Citizenship Education in Ireland.

• Develop IDEA’s policy case for Global Citizenship Education, including evidence

base, policy asks, and targeted messaging.

• Represent IDEA in relation to policy and advocacy, managing relevant external relationships and strengthening IDEA’s policy & advocacy networks.

• Organise briefings/events to engage policy-makers and public representatives and broaden their understanding of Global Citizenship Education

• Contribute to the design and delivery of relevant campaigns & communications initiated or supported by IDEA.

• Contribute to IDEA monitoring and evaluation, providing reports, data and updates for donor reporting, and maintaining records.

• Contribute to financial and cash flow control and monitoring of policy & advocacy activities.

• Knowledge of the key levers for influencing policy, ensuring IDEA Policy and advocacy strategy is effective.

• Knowledge of policy processes in Ireland, the Irish political system, and experience of engagement with policy-makers

• Ability to represent IDEA and ensure key IDEA messages are highlighted through advocacy & networks.

• Ability to influence others and communicate the importance of IDEA messages to decision makers.

• Ability to develop & deliver a strategy for IDEA’s policy & advocacy work and Vision 2025, IDEA’s strategic vision for Global Citizenship Education in Ireland

• Understanding the importance of IDEA’s context, and ability to develop strategy that reflects IDEA’s role as a network.
