Pig Farm Manager. Irlanda

Our client, Staunton Foods Limited t/a Roughty Valley Farms, based in Timoleague, Co. Cork, is currently seeking a Pig Farm Manager for immediate start at their facility in Meelick, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry.

Qualifications:

No formal or academic qualifications are required for this role, but any relevant certifications are an advantage. A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the same or similar role is required. Additional training will be provided on-the-job as required.

General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:

    To oversee the production and day-to-day care of pigs

    To maintain the health and welfare of pigs

    To lead the pig farming operations, overseeing breeding, farrowing, and grower management processes to ensure optimal performance and animal care

    To oversee all aspects of farm management from breeding to Farrowing, Weaner, and finisher Departments, ensuring optimal reproductive performance

    To coordinate routine health checks and interventions as needed

    Essential knowledge includes animal nutrition, animal welfare legislation and health & safety regulations

    Essential knowledge includes livestock feeding, livestock reproduction, and signs of animal illness

    Essential skills include the administration of drugs to facilitate breeding, assisting at births, and administering treatments to pigs

    Essential skills include assisting in the transportation of animals, caring for juvenile animals and managing pig breeding

    Essential competencies include carrying out specialised procedures for pigs, controlling animal movement, and creating animal records

    Essential competencies include disposing of dead animals, feeding livestock, and maintaining animal accommodation

    Candidates must have experience in managing livestock and pig breeding, monitoring the welfare of animals, and providing first aid to animals

    Candidates must have experience in managing animal hygiene, operating farm equipment, and providing nutrition to pigs

    4 years of previous relevant experience as a Pig Farm Manager is required

Minimum Annual Remuneration: €40,000.00; Pay rate €19.73 per hour

Work Location: Meelick, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry.
