Dundalk Community Training Centre

Dundalk CTC provides vocational training and education programmes to meet the needs of young people aged 16 – 21 from the local area who have left mainstream school early. Programmes have been designed to enhance each learner’s potential to learn new skills and achieve relevant certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. This role demands flexibility in responding to learner needs through the provision of a variety of flexible training options at QQI level 2, 3 & 4 which ultimately supports their move into the workplace or another learning environment.

The Board of Management invites applications from enthusiastic & self-motivated individuals for the position of:

Maths Tutor

(15 hours per week) Temporary Part Time

The tutor/teacher will be responsible for working in partnership with young people and delivering a range of QQI level 2, 3 & 4 Mathematics modules within the QQI curricula,

The successful candidate will have:

A formal Qualification in the Subject Matter or related area of Mathematics, of at least QQI

Level 7

A recognised qualification in Training & Education or similar

Experience of working with young people in a training environment

A young person-centred approach to the work allied with the creativity to design and deliver flexible training and support options in response to individual needs

The ability to work effectively with Staff, Learners, External Partners & others as

appropriate to support learner progression & development

Creativity to design & deliver flexible training options

Strong administration, communication, presentation and IT Skills

An awareness and working knowledge of QQI awards and key state agencies who work with early school leavers

Responsibilities will include:

Delivering, assessing, and monitoring of learner coursework to QQI level standards

Provision of supports to learners including active participation and one-to-one support work

Maintain class and learner records and provide learning reports as required

Assisting with the CTC team planning, development and implementation of CTC services within the Training Standards and Quality Assurance Systems

Supporting young people to develop Individual Learning and Progression Plans
