Lab Assistant 1 (2 Posts) (Permanent Wholetime) (Reference: 180b/2023

Lab Assistants are in the main assigned to Schools and are responsible to the Head of that Schl or other designated member(s) of staff. On a day-to-day basis they report – where appropriate – to the Head of Schl/Assistant Head of Schl and assist in the following:

1. The general servicing and cleaning of classrooms, kitchens, laboratories and workshops including cleaning and washing of equipment, instruments and facilities as required.

2. The preparation of materials and equipment for practical classes, demonstrations, assessments, practical examinations, project and research work in laboratory and other areas.

3. The fetching, transportation and storing of materials and equipment.

4. Accepting delivery of materials and equipment, their transportation and storing as required, and the replenishing of stocks and consumables as appropriate.

5. The maintenance of laboratories, workshops, kitchens and associated areas in a clean, tidy and secure manner and informing the Senior Technical Officer or relevant line manager if they identify any hazards in the workplace.

Hours of Work: A 40 hour working week is in operation.

Salary:

The Lab Assistant 1 Salary Scale is:

• €41,899 - €43,260

Appointments will be made at the appropriate point on the appropriate scale.
