Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:

The position offered concerns the study of renewable energy systems supported by design and modelling tools.

The candidate will provide support to ARES in both European and local projects mainly related to renewable energy technologies, storages and other flexible energy solution for the decarbonization target. The activities of the successful candidate will focus on: • Designing energy systems by integrating standard components (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, DC/DC converters, AC/DC converters) and innovative renewable energy technologies; • Dynamic modeling of energy systems and technologies, in particular electrochemical devices for energy storage (batteries), hydrogen production (solid oxide and/or PEM electrolysers) and fuel cells; • Performing CFD and multiphysics studies of devices or components for design and validation purposes • Optimizing grid-connected and islanded micro-grids by integrating different types of generators and storages, considering both thermal and electric loads; • Dynamic modelling of micro-grids with different type of storages (batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen with eletrolyzer and fuel cell, thermal storages) The ideal candidate should have: • MSc in Energy, Chemical, Mechanical or other Engineering • Know-how on energy systems and renewable energy technologies; • Know-how on electrochemical devices (batteries, fuel cells and eletrolyzers); • Experience in performing dynamic simulations of energy systems using self-developed, opensource or commercial tools (e.g., Dymola, OpenModelica, Matlab); • Experience with computational tools for heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and multiphysics analyses (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Multiphysics, Ansys Fluent/CFX, OpenFOAM); • Skills in programming (C++, python, Matlab) and some experience in the development of applications or libraries for modelling physical systems; • Ability to support the experimental validation of components and/or prototypes in laboratories or pilot-sites • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to achieve assigned objectives • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects at one time • Good knowledge of written and spoken English • Skills in problem solving • Good communication and relational skills • Self-motivation and result orientation • Ability to write technical reports and scientific papers Furthermore the following elements will be positively evaluated: • PhD Degree in fields related to this call • Experience in micro-grids modeling for optimization and design purposes • Knowledge of electric power systems, AC/DC and DC/DC converters • Experience in micro-grids and electric circuits modeling tools (e.g., Homer Energy, Ansys Simplorer) Employment: Fixed Term Contract.

Working hours: full time.
