Galway City Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience to create a panel for the role of Information Systems Data Analyst / Developer (Web).

The successful applicant will be expected to:

    Be responsible for controlling the development lifecycle of Web-based projects (Design, Development, UAT, Go Live planning and ongoing support).

    Provide technical support for the ICT Department across Web platforms, Data Management & Digital services

    Design and develop online surveys and forms, transforming manual/paper-based application to digital processes that integrate with internal systems

    Keep current with new technologies and introduce systems which utilise these technologies to optimise existing services and provide new service opportunities for the organisation.

    Maintain proficiency in all aspects of GCC Information systems and Digital Services.

    Manage the IT hardware and software associated with the organisation's Internet & Intranet requirements to include license management, user’s rights, software versioning and patching.

    Contribute to the setting of operational performance indicators relating to Web applications & associated databases

    Raise risks and issues as appropriate to the operation of Web Applications

    Performing other such duties in relation to this work as the Council may require.

    Deal with service desk tickets and other support issues as required.

    Additional duties as may be assigned by the Head of ICT from time to time.

The ideal candidate shall possess proven RECENT experience in the following areas:

    .NET, PHP, Python, Powershell & Javascript

    SQL/MySQL database administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, support and development

    CMS administration (LocalGov Drupal an advantage)

The ideal candidate should also possess:

    Knowledge of the latest and emerging web application development techniques and web technologies;

    An ability to take on complex problems or situations and take a solution-focused and creative approach to dealing with them;

    Initiative and enthusiasm for new developments or changing work practices and the drive to implement change effectively;

    Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team, and delegate tasks as appropriate;

    Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;

    Have a satisfactory knowledge of Local Government in Ireland

Desirable:

It is desirable that candidates should have the following:

Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the following areas:

    Web site deployment and support,

    Enterprise Database Support in MS SQL Server and/or MySQL,

    Business Systems Analysis and Design,

    Robotic Process Automation and/or experience with Artificial Intelligence
