The role of Senior ICT Specialist is divided into three streams, or areas of specialism, with opportunities to be placed on panels as follows:

Stream 1 – Senior VMware Engineer

The VMware Engineer responsibilities will include ensuring the ongoing stability, health, and maintenance of the physical, virtual and cloud environments. They will be responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring, upgrades, and patching.  The candidate must have significant experience in a data centre infrastructure management with hands-on production administration of large virtual system environments using VMware vSphere. The VMware Engineer is expected to have a good working knowledge and experience in working with Windows and Linux servers.  

The department operates an ITIL based Service Management process.  As part of the service improvement process, this candidate will have direct involvement with an ongoing programme of security optimisation and will be required to work closely with the Hosting and IAM teams to support this process.

Stream 2 – Senior Network Engineer

The Network Engineer responsibilities will include ensuring the ongoing stability, health and maintenance of the HPe datacentre network. They will be responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring, upgrades and patching. The candidate must have experience in managing HPe Networks in a datacentre context and must have significant experience with the IMC Management platform. Additionally, the candidate must have significant experience developing and enhancing the HPe IMC Orchestrator and Analyser platform.

The department operates an ITIL based Service Management process.  As part of the service improvement process, the resource will have direct involvement with an ongoing programme of security optimisation and will be required to work closely with the Hosting team to support this process.

Stream 3 – Senior SAN Engineer

The SAN Engineer responsibilities will include ensuring the ongoing stability, health, and maintenance of the SAN Arrays environment. They will be responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring, upgrading and patching. The candidate must have experience in managing HPe storage devices, working with Fiber Channel networks, and have a background in Server Administration.

The department operates an ITIL based Service Management process.  As part of the service improvement process, the resource will have direct involvement with an ongoing programme of security optimisation and will be required to work closely with the SAN and Hosting teams to support this process.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate they have all required skills, experience and qualifications set out in Essential Entry Requirements, Qualifications and Experience for the appropriate stream.
