We are now looking for future energy sector professionals for the Helen Trainee Program. Our six-month trainee program starts in September 2024 and runs until March 2025. During the program, you will grow as a professional, learn about the energy transition, future energy solutions, megatrends, and sustainability from both your own expertise area and the perspective of the entire energy sector.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals from various educational and professional backgrounds, and the program is intended for both those completing their university studies and those who have been in the working life for few years. A background in business or technical education is advantage, but for us it's enough you're interested in learning about energy industry! One of our values is mastery of collaboration, which is why we require good communication and teamwork skills from all Helen employees. To succeed in the role, you don't need to be a ready-made energy expert; what's most important is a lust for learning and enthusiasm for the job.

We are eager to find  a total of five trainees for the following roles:

Portfolio Management Trainee: you will be working in close co-operation with experienced portfolio management and trading professionals within asset classes such as physical and financial power, natural gas, carbon allowances, renewable energy certificates etc. You can additionally strengthen your expertise in energy market and commodity analysis or deep-dive in to the development of digital tools and solutions used in energy trading. It's also possible to develop your skill-set around renewable energy offerings, origination and power purchase agreements. Fluency in English is a must.Junior Finance Specialist: you'll work as a support for the Business Controller unit, assisting them, among other things, in the analysis of matters related to financial planning. Your responsibilities include tasks related to financial monitoring and reporting. The tasks will be defined more precisely based on experience and interest - they may include updating cash flow forecasts, processing payment orders, reviewing sales invoice postings, handling billing matters, and monitoring costs. Fluency in Finnish is a must.Sustainability Communications Trainee: you'll have the opportunity to produce texts for annual and sustainability reports, compile a communication plan for sustainability, and write and create social media content and blog posts, for example, about Helen's biodiversity projects. You'll also be responsible for planning the reporting project and advocacy newsletter. Additionally, you'll ensure updates on Helen's stakeholders and organization memberships. Fluency in Finnish is a must.Sales Analyst Trainee: you'll get to grasp the basics of electricity sales and learn to analyze data from Helen's 600,000 electricity customers. You'll assist in reporting management and sales analyses, allowing you to practice operating at the intersection of sales and analytics, and to increase understanding of how business needs guide the development of reporting and analysis methods. You'll also become familiar with sales analysis tools and electricity Customer Lifetime Value calculation. Fluency in Finnish is a must.Heating Master Data Trainee: you'll get to create a logical and conceptual data model for district heating and cooling (using Ellie as a tool) to support district heating digital projects. Your tasks will also include harmonizing and grouping terms related to district heating production and distribution, as well as naming data domains. The role requires good facilitation and documentation skills. Fluency in Finnish is a must.How we support you on the journey to becoming an energy industry expert?

Helen Trainee program is a carefully designed framework and pathway through which you'll dive into the heart of the energy industry and enable a carbon-neutral future. Your personal career development during the program is supported by a coach and a dedicated mentor who will help shape your development path and facilitate the realization of your career aspirations. You'll also receive support and guidance from your tutors! Additionally, you'll receive comprehensive orientation to our various business functions. You'll also have the opportunity to work on a cross-functional project at the corporate level with your fellow trainees. All trainee positions come with a fixed monthly salary of 3,000€.
