Mount Sackville Nursing Home – a care facility situated in extensive landscaped grounds

adjacent to the Phoenix Park and Farmleigh. It also overlooks Liffey Valley Dublin-Ireland.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Be actively involved in the individuals care and support, helping to plan this, playing an important part in the

continuing assessment and review of the individuals needs and progress.

Ensure at all times that information about individuals is treated with respect and confidentiality, when

receiving information, giving it, storing it and retrieving it.

Provide physical and personal care when needed , assisting individuals in any aspect of personal care for

example bed making , personal laundry, use of the toilet, bathing, eating, drinking and assistance with taking

medication.

Assist individuals develop practical daily living skills.

To maintain individual social activity plans for each resident. To communicate effectively with the Nurse

regarding the well being of residents who are taking part in social activities.

Note: This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role and the range of

duties, it does not attempt to detail every activity. Given the nature of the work, it must be stressed that

maximum flexibility is required to work in the nursing home.

Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with

the post holder periodically by the Home Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:

FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent

Be caring, patient, empathetic and have a strong interest in care of the elderly.

Experience in a similar working environment a distinct advantage

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Excellent planning, organisation and teamworking skills

Ability to relate well to older people including those living with dementia and sensory impairment.

Be spontaneous and flexible. Be able to connect and occupy residents in a way that is meaningful to each

person ‘in the moment’.

Be open to new learning opportunities and be reflective on oneself and one’s skills.
