Our client, a family-run leader in the food industry and the largest producer of cooked meats in Ireland, is looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join their innovative team. This role is integral in maintaining and enhancing health and safety standards across their operations, which include well-known premium brands and state-of-the-art facilities.

Location: Co. Kildare

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with the Environmental & Health and Safety Manager to support daily management and strategic development of health and safety systems.

Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements across corporate, insurance, and clinical sites in Ireland.

Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 40001 and 50001 certifications.

Offer advice, guidance, and support on health and safety matters to internal stakeholders, including consultation with Safety Committees and Safety Representatives.

Act as a key figure in promoting a positive health and safety culture within the organization.

Coordinate and deliver comprehensive health and safety training, manage compliance with company procedures and legal requirements.

Compile detailed accident reports and investigation findings to support accident prevention strategies.

Regularly conduct audits and risk assessments to monitor and facilitate corrective and preventative actions on a national scale.

Manage Emergency Plans, including evacuation procedures and drills.

Provide timely health and safety reports and metrics to the Group Health and Safety Manager.

Support the Operational team with additional tasks and projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

A third-level qualification in Health & Safety, or a similar field, is required.

Membership of IOSH at Corporate level (or working towards it) or equivalent.

At least 3-5 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably within a healthcare setting.

Proficient in risk assessment with a robust understanding of Irish and EU health and safety regulations.

Experienced auditor and trainer with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and an innovative approach to workplace safety.

Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
