Job Purpose Statement The Data Engineer is a member of the DB and Data team and is accountable for the development and delivery of Data exploitation layer, Management Information and Business Intelligence products that provide visibility of business performance and associated information used to drive domestic and executive-level decision-making. The Role Holder must ensure that all MI & BI products (e.g. reports, dashboards, scorecards) comprehensively fulfil business requirements, are based on appropriate data, and are presented in succinct and easily interpretable ways that enable rapid consumption of information and derivation of conclusions. The Role Holder must deliver Data, MI and BI solutions which adhere to relevant governance and are delivered within time, cost, and quality tolerances with automation wherever feasible to improve efficiency, reliability, and ultimately, value-for-money. Dimensions Financial responsibility: None Direct reports: None Technologies deployed: AWS Cloud, S3, Python, T-SQL, All database technologies (RDBMS, In memory), Tableau, QlickView, ETL, New Cloud and emerging Data Lake Technologies ? Key Accountabilities Build and delivery of compliant MI, BI and data products and semantic data layer developments, with assurance of all design logic through transparency, documentation, management of issues and risks, validation of all caveats and assumptions, and appropriate authorisation with delivery within all time, cost, and quality tolerances Ensure the quality of MI & BI products through the implementation of appropriate Change and Quality Management processes that include version control, documentation, peer review, and testing with documented plans, scenarios, scripts, and acceptance criteria along with evidencing and authorisation of results Deliver productionised MI, BI and Data products through rigid validation routines and the provision of accessible channels and procedures for the raising and addressing of issues Participation within all relevant data and analytics initiatives and business change programmes and ensure deliverables are aligned to the strategic direction of such activity Support the MI, BI developers and Testers with best proactive design and delivery to achieve overall deliverables Knowledge/Skills Educated to degree level and preferably with an additional qualification in Information Management or an equivalent subject ITIL methodology aware Strong Development skills gained through substantial experience of delivering complex MI & BI build activity in a high pace environment with a proven track record of building through successful implementation of MI & BI delivery, objectives, and requirements Good communication skills by written, oral and electronic means appropriate to the relevant audiences Provide advice on the available standards, methods, tools and applications relevant to the delivery of services. Required to write complex queries over multiple data sources and ensure it is easily accessible, works smoothly, optimized for performance of the company’s data systems Perform and implement effective change owner and implementation management to protect service availability and performance Manage/Run/Support the ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) on top of big datasets and create big data warehouses that can be used for reporting or analysis by company’s data analysists Develop and support new and existing data warehouses, ETL packages, cubes, dashboards and analytical reports The Data Engineer will work with databases, both relational and multidimensional, and should have great SQL development skills to integrate data from different resources Provide assistance to business users and technical specialists. Ability to build and maintain critical working relationships Ability to write and review effective documents Ability to deliver high quality service under pressure Experience Excellent knowledge in Development of Data and BI Solutions via of SQL, Py
