Critical Environment Officer (Based in the Netherlands)

Akkodis is a specialized IT & Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years’ experience providing consultants to our key partners in The Netherlands. Currently we are recruiting a Critical Environment Technician. Following this project your employment with Akkodis could progress for many years based on our client portfolio.

As a successful Critical Environment Technician - Shift, you will:

• Support critical equipment to keep our IT load available 24/7.

• Be the person to investigate impact and effects from switching, maintenance, and unplanned failures.

• Participate in incident bridge calls (locally and global) and set up a plan/use procedures to mitigate incidents and failures to minimize operational impact and maintain IT uptime.

• Play a central role between mechanical, electrical and automation teams on our campus. You will oversee day-to-day work, while mechanical and electrical availability is maintained at the highest level.

• Play your part in a team of enthusiasts and professionals with Electrical, Mechanical and Automation knowledge and experience. Learn or understand the working principles of our data centers and are familiar with electrical systems as: Generators, Transformers, Ups’s, Transfer Switches (automatic and static).

• Have or gain a hands-on understanding of how equipment works and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within different discipline(s).

• Not be afraid to ask questions or raise concerns considering operations that may endanger availability.

• Understand, follow, and ensure safety and security requirements (e.g., job hazard assessments , toolbox talks), business processes and procedures to properly perform work in a safe, quality, and reliable manner.

• Assess and identify appropriate resources and equipment necessary to fully support environmental health and safety (EH&S) objectives.

• Provide consultation to colleagues in troubleshooting systems and problems.

• Participate in required meetings, trainings, and necessary handoffs.

• Maintain safe working conditions and escalate immediately when unsafe working conditions are observed.

• Grow through development in areas such automation, electric equipment and mechanical equipment, for example: Air handling units, generators, water treatment plant, refrigerant cooling units, safety systems (sprinklers, deluge etc). By developing yourself you will aim to support continuous people, process and procedure improvements.

• Perform rounds and inspect our equipment on a daily base.

• Perform risk mitigating steps as high voltage switching, switch off UPS’s, starting diesel generators, starting up our water treatment facility etc.

• Be developing yourself in the mechanical equipment to gain a better understanding of our campus.

For this role, you are welcome to apply if you meet the following Required Qualifications:

• Good mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly / manufacturing / critical infrastructure environments such as data centres, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields) or equivalent experience.

• OR, Associate degree or technical trade certification (e.g., military, trade school), or higher- equivalent education)

• Proficiency with Microsoft productivity software, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams meetings. Excellent skills in all aspects of collaboration, communications, analytical capabilities and high level of attention to detail and proactive awareness.

• Proficient in written and oral English communication to support local, regional and global teams.
