Family Safeguarding Mental Health Team Leader – Band 7 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Family Safeguarding Practitioner at band 7. This is a 16 month fixed term post Secondments would be considered subject to prior approval from your Manager. Luton was successful in their innovation bid to be one of four new authorities to implement the Family Safeguarding Model, starting the implementation in May 2017. This is a model that has been designed by Hertfordshire County Council to tackle the challenges around Children’s Safeguarding and in particular the compounding factors to risk of harm known as the “toxic trio” domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental health . The aim of the model is to improve outcomes for children and their families in tackling these risk factors through multidisciplinary teams that can work with the adults in the family alongside the children’s social workers and make their job a “doable role” With responsibility for the day to day coordination of the Family Safeguarding Team mental health practitioners, the successful candidate will have experience of working closely with Children’s services around child in need and child protection and will contribute to the service to ensure that parents suffering from mental and psychological illness consistently receive high quality services that adhere to best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards and positive and sustainable treatment outcomes. Your role will involve managing a small caseload alongside being responsible for the clinical supervision of the mental health practitioners based in the multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that they operate within contractual and administrative standards. You will be required to work flexibly and maintain the appropriate level of mental health service provision. Key relationships include: • This post would be part of the Luton neighbourhood teams • Children’s Specialist Assessment Teams • Fostering and Adoption services • Early Help • Probation • Requirements: • Qualified registered mental health Nurse or Social Worker. • Up to date registration with a recognized professional body. • Previous experience of working in the community and undertaking safeguarding procedures. • Previous experience of staff management. • A clean driving licence is desirable as you may be required to use your car to drive between bases For full details please see attached job description and person specification.
