OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Social Enterprise Business Manager (SEBM) will take responsibility for the commercial and operational management of BRILL FRC’s ‘Ballybeg Greens’ Project and lead out on its strategic development. An important part of the role is to manage and support the ongoing development of the business, fully utilise the facilities available and identify new opportunities by means of effective marketing, networking and innovative solutions.

KEY AREAS OF WORK:

    Business Plan Development and Implementation  

    Be part of the process of developing and leading out on, Ballybeg Greens Strategic Plan.

    Develop and grow Ballybeg Greens as a sustainable business

    Work in line with the agreed Annual Work Plan and requirements as set out in any Service Level Agreements

    Keep funders and Brill FRC management up to date on progress, challenges and opportunities as the Plan unfolds.

      Promote the uptake of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture Programme to additional need groups and on a Family by Family Basis and potential new audiences

    Staff Management

    Line manage and supervise allocated staff and volunteers.  

    Maintain appropriate attendance records in line with funder requirements.

    Take responsibility for managing recruitment, probationary and induction procedures for new Ballybeg Greens staff and volunteers in conjunction with FRC Manager.

    Conduct team meetings on a regular basis with staff and volunteers and set up a communication mechanism to keep all parties updated.  

    Liaise with FRC Manager in regard to Garda Vetting, where appropriate, for volunteers and staff working with the Project.

    Work with the Head Grower on the development and sustainability of the Garden environment to allow these programmes to be delivered in the Gardens.

    Monitoring and Evaluation

    Monitoring the impact of the work and its performance against agreed objectives/outcomes as prescribed/ agreed with funders

    Reporting and accountability:

    Liaising with FRC Manager to write up relevant reports to funding agencies on the work undertaken.  

    Reports to FRC Manager through regular staff meetings and supervision meetings on the progress of the work, and keep up to date on other sections of the Project

    Submit, via the FRC Manager, Monthly Progress reports to the Board of Management.

Funding:

    To work closely with the FRC Manager and other staff to identify and apply for relevant grant / programme applications to various Departments and Funders to enhance provision of services and programmes and capital developments etc.in line with good governance and reporting criteria.

    Be a primary source of contact between Pobal and BRILL FRC in regard to the work of Ballybeg Greens

Financial Management

    Attaining effective budgetary control in regard to Income and Expenditure.

    Manage and Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within Ballybeg Greens

    Support project analysis, validation of plans, and any other ad-hoc requirements
