The Rehabilitation Engineer RE Service is part of the Rehabilitation Equipment and Technology Clinical Business Unit within Birmingham Community Healthcare Foundation Trust. Currently the Service employees approximately 30 Rehabilitation Engineers working across the 12 Wheelchair Services within the West Midlands and also the Regional Posture &Mobility Service. The RE Service holds contracts with various Wheelchair Services within the West Midlands to supply trained and qualified Rehabilitation Engineers. Rehabilitation engineering is the clinical application of engineering to provide services, research, and development to assist people with disabilities. The RE Service wishes to recruit a Trainee Rehabilitation Engineer who will undertake a training programme to achieve the IPEM Diploma in Clinical Technology. This will allow them to apply for membership of the Register of Clinical Technologists. Training programmes are tailored for the individual based upon their specific knowledge, skills and experience. The role will be predominantly within the field of wheelchair mobility and postural management but will have experience of the wider field of Rehabilitation Engineering. The candidate will need to have suitable engineering qualifications to allow them to join the IPEM Diploma in Clinical Technology scheme. This would typically be at BSc or BEng level in an appropriate Engineering Subject. A full driving license is essential. IMPORTANT 1.
