THE COMPANY

EmTDLab is a company founded in 2018 with the vision to advance the future of space exploration.

Effective shielding against space radiation remains one of the most challenging concerns of space missions, from satellite on-board systems to deep space human flight. Our goal is to participate in the discovery of entirely new materials for space radiation shielding. Our engineering services and product will soon complement the technologies deployed by the largest and most ambitious aerospace companies.

To do so, EmTDLab has developed a novel proprietary method to identify new advanced materials with optimal radiation shielding parameters and mechanical properties. Based on the support of the European Space Agency, EmTDLab aims to actively develop the technology to synthetize and manufacture those materials with optimal properties.

THE POSITION

EmTDLab is growing and actively a recruiting a Technical Sales Manager who will report to the CEO.

As a member of our management team, you will act as a prime customer interface in every business-related activity to reach EmTDLab' s commercial objectives. We are looking to hire a self-starting manager who is motivated to contribute to the integration of new radiation shielding products into our customer's design, development and purchasing lifecycle (aerospace, healthcare and energy industries).

This role requires a technical background (preferably in radiation shielding), a strong analytical skillset to drive customer adoption and forecast accurate integration and deployment timelines of various products.

• Understanding the radiation effects on our customer's industrial context will be critical to discover the commercial opportunities where EmTDLab's solutions will make a difference compared to legacy technologies.

• Success will require systems thinking, creativity, and excellent sales communication skills to synthesize information that shapes future products development and strategic direction.

• As a team member, you will develop your own internal and external networks and cultivate collaboration across multi-disciplinary team members that include radiation engineers, materials scientists, production, mission specialists, spacecraft systems engineer, purchasing managers and systems integration managers.

• This work supports our fundamental goal of selling a generation of newly discovered materials for space radiation shielding. Our services and product will soon complement the technologies deployed by the largest and most ambitious aerospace companies.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apprehend and continuously watch the target market opportunities and competition.

• Identify the target customers, target market segments, target geographies.

• Benchmark and elaborate pricing decisions.

• Develop specific profitable value propositions.

• Integrate all the above factors into the commercialisation strategy.

• Anchor the commercialization strategy into EmTDLab core processes.

• Establish the basis for the customer discovery programme.

• Create a permanent feedback loop between sales and R&D

• Run pilot projects with customers technical team.

• Transform customer relationships into long term partnerships.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and implement commercial project plans, manage milestones, and hold reviews to assure reliability of projects plan in adequacy with R&D plans.

• You initiate the customer discovery process with the customer deep-dive. You provide the management team with updated view of the customer through researching customer's financials, customer's market dynamics, customer's future growth prospects, the regulatory/policy environment customer operates within and the customer's long-term strategic objectives

• You develop an understanding for customer trends and how these translate into shields requirements.

• You provide accurate estimates on EmTDLab positioning in terms of pricing and commercial terms.

• You synthesize complex information about the market and products and make actionable

recommendations to the leadership team.

• You organise face-to-face customer meetings (customer discovery sessions), comprising of: on-site

• Deep Dive sessions (or virtual meeting if required), capture customer's operational pain points, attend in a listening mode, ensure customer understands well objective of the session, help the customer prepare for the session to ensure the right content being presented and use follow-up meeting to present a full-fledged approach to solving the customer's problem

• You run pilot projects including demonstration project or proof of concept, possible offers to co-fund with customer pilot project, ensure there are measurable outcomes (impacting customer's financials, explore innovative financing platform and bring to project scale-up to industrial phase

• You follow up the product qualifications with key customers and transfer it into a meaningful business scale.

• You formulate partnerships with customers based on problem-solving rather than selling a service or a product. You are responsible to create a relationship where customer become recurring ones and engage in larger contract research programmes.

• You take ownership over a portfolio of business development relationships with key enterprises. You manage RFI/RFP/RFQ for contract research, engineering services and radiation shield products. You will later grow sales volumes and strengthens the EmTDLab presence in target markets.

• The scope and description of responsibilities will evolve according to the internal process and product development lifecycle.

REQUIREMENTS

Profile

• Master's degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, chemistry, materials) with 10 years in sales engineering, technical sales or engineering roles with commercial responsibilities.

• Required experience in a technical and customer-facing role.

• Fluent in English; knowledge of other language is an asset.

Interpersonal skills and experience

• You have a self-starting personality and can-do mentality; You work independently and take ownership of your assigned tasks.

• You are flexible to deal with a constantly evolving environment and are stress resistant.
