About Us:

We are a growing accounting practice offering a range of accounting, tax, and advisory services to individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Practice Accountant to join our team and support our expanding client base.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management:

- Support the client engagement team in all aspects of managing a client portfolio, ensuring deadlines and demands are met.

- Take ownership of a portfolio, including year-end accounts, management accounts, budgets, and forecasts for selected clients.

- Manage and develop strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities to provide additional services and ensuring their satisfaction.

- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, providing timely responses to all queries.

Financial Reporting:

- Take full responsibility for delivering all aspects of client accounting work, from planning to finalization, ensuring all work is on time and within budget.

- Perform advanced technical accounting work, oversee the finalization of accounts, and produce detailed reports.

- Demonstrate working knowledge of GAAP and Accounting standards, particularly FRS 102 1A, ensuring compliance in all client work.

Advisory & Project Work:

- Take responsibility for delivering specialist advisory and project work to a high technical standard.

- Provide clear, concise recommendations with alternative options for clients, advising them based on researched findings and current legislation.

- Participate in tenders and proposals for new client work as required.

Technical Development:

- Maintain and develop your technical accounting knowledge by researching new legislation, identifying opportunities for clients, and advising them accordingly.

Qualifications:

- A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

- Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards, specifically FRS 102 1A.

- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong communication skills and a client-focused attitude.

Desirable:

- Experience in an accounting practice environment.

- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance.

- Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, AAT) or working towards them.
