At Aurora Abalone, we are a leading innovator in the aquaculture industry, dedicated to sustainable seafood production and cultivating high-quality Ezo Abalone. We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Aquaculture Specialist to join our growing team.  

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced aquaculture specialist with a strong background in Ezo Abalone production. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in the cultivation and management of Ezo Abalone, combined with a relevant engineering degree. This role will involve direct responsibility for the daily care and management of our Ezo Abalone population, as well as conducting growth measurements, experiments, and other research activities.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Daily Care and Management: Tending to the Ezo Abalone, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining optimal tank conditions to ensure their health and growth.

•    Growth Measurements: Conducting regular growth measurements and monitoring the development of the abalone, using both manual and automated methods.

•    Experimental Research: Designing and executing experiments related to the growth, behavior, and health of Ezo Abalone. Analyzing data and reporting findings to improve cultivation practices.

•    Environmental Monitoring: Monitoring and adjusting water quality parameters (e.g., temperature, salinity, pH) to maintain ideal living conditions for the abalone.

•    Data Management: Accurately recording and managing data related to growth rates, environmental conditions, and experimental outcomes. Preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

•    Team Collaboration: Working closely with the aquaculture team and other departments to ensure smooth operations and share knowledge on best practices.

Qualifications:

•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.

•    Experience: A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in the production and management of Ezo Abalone is required.

•    Technical Skills: Proficiency in conducting growth measurements, designing and implementing experiments, and using relevant aquaculture software and tools.

•    Knowledge: Strong understanding of the biological and environmental needs of Ezo Abalone. Experience with water quality management and troubleshooting.

•    Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to daily tasks, with the ability to spot and address issues early.

•    Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share data and insights with team members and management.

•    Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve issues related to abalone health, growth, and environmental conditions.

Wages are paid according in accordance with the collective agreement between SGS (Federation of General and Special workers in Iceland) and SA (Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise)
