The role holder will work as part of a professional service delivery team dedicated to the provision of an efficient, effective and quality driven Information Technology service to staff and students within the Corporate, Administrative, Academic Research and Learning and Teaching functions of the University. The role holder will provide a highly professional, friendly and customer focused face to the services offered by Information Services. This role is an opportunity to join a key team in providing the implementation, support and development of an enterprise level CRM system that will be used throughout the University. The system is based on the Microsoft Dynamics platform. In addition the team supports these primary systems among others: HR system (Core) Security System (NT500) Room-booking system (Scientia) Student information system (SITS:Vision, locally branded as SIMS) MI Reporting (Business Objects and Microsoft BI tools) The role is highly varied, with tasks in systems implementation and administration, programming and configuration, reporting, systems analysis and interfacing. The role holder will be required to provide advice, training and guidance on use of the systems, and liaise with customers, suppliers and other IT teams to ensure the best possible service is provided. SQL is used consistently throughout all the different systems. The role holder will take responsibility for:- • The specification, design, development, integration, testing and documentation of large or complex systems, selecting the most appropriate design standards, methods and tools consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensure they are applied effectively. You will review others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology. You will contribute to policies for the selection of architecture components. You will evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options and assess and manage associated risks. You will ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements. • The specification of user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. You will assess associated risks, and specify recovery routines and contingency procedures. You will assist with the translation of logical designs into physical designs. • The maintenance of application support processes, and check that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. You will use application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports. The role may also involve the line-management and leadership of staff supporting technical and functional solutions and/or services in the role-holder’s technical domain. This post is full time and open ended.
