Childcare Service Manager. Border. Irlanda

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new facility opening in September 2024. The Service is working towards providing a Breakfast Club, ECCE Scheme, and Afterschool and place an emphasis on outdoor and child-led play.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Board of Management, to provide sustainable, affordable and accessible childcare to Ballintogher and the surrounding areas. The Service Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Childcare Service. Commencing early August 2024 with flexible working hours to set up the facility. Full-time on-site hours commence September.

Duties & Responsibilities

To work within the overall aims and objectives of the service

Efficient day-to-day running and management of the service

Responsible for admissions

Preparation, filing and updating all policies and procedures required for the sustainable operation of the childcare service

Effective implementation and monitoring of relevant policies and procedures

Ensure that the service complies with relevant regulations and legislation pertaining to the field, including but not limited to, Health and Safety legislation and the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016

Maintain working partnerships and represent the service with relevant statutory agencies and childcare professionals

Engage with inspections from Pobal, DES, and Tusla

General administration of the service, including the use of HIVE

Ensure that all relevant records are maintained in line with Tusla requirements

Ensure that confidentiality is fully observed in relation to the overall service and stakeholders

Safeguard children and staff at all times.

Must have excellent knowledge of Aistear and Siolta

Build partnerships and communicate effectively with all families in relation to their children’s well-being, development, and interests

Supporting and supervising staff throughout the day and hold support and supervision meetings for all staff

Facilitate staff meetings for planning and reflection purposes

Link regularly with the management committee

Work off site when needed - for example bus trips and visits to local amenities

Be in good health to meet the demands of the job

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Minimum NFQ Level 7 ordinary degree in Early Childhood Care and Education

Minimum 2 years work experience in a similar role

A passion for the Early Years Sector

Administrative, organisational and computer skills

Experience with HIVE

Experience with funding models (ECCE, NCS, CCSP, and Core Funding)

Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and procedures

Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to lead a team

Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children

Good Communication and Relationship Building Skills with children, staff and parents

Children First/Child Protection certification

Complete Garda Vetting

A desire to help build a new childcare facility of the highest standard
