DTU Nanotech (Department of Micro- and Naotechnology), is an international research and education nanoscience Department based at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). DTU Nanotech undertakes interdisciplinary research involving scientists from relevant areas in physics, chemistry, molecular biology and engineering. At the Colloids & Biological Interface Group (CBIO), we are searching for two highly motivated Phd Students with strong ambition and commitment to a productive environment. The CBIO is a world leading international environment in biomaterials and biomedical engineering that particular focuses on development of new drug delivery systemS. Responsibilities and tasks The 3 PhD positions are available in Organic and bioorganic chemistry. The focus is on synthesizing new prodrugs that are optimized for degrading specifically in diseased tissues and formulation in liposome drug delivery systems for use in immunotherapy. We aim to design prodrugs that stimulate antigen-presenting cells for treatment of cancer. The synthesis of these prodrugs is challenging and requires the best students with a strong academic mind and “good hands”. The projects are carried out in collaboration with small biotech companies. The candidates should have a background in organic chemistry. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in organic chemistry, or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU.
