This is an exciting opportunity to join the Safer Community Wardens Team, part of the Community Safety Team within Aberdeenshire Council. A highly visible uniformed foot patrolling service where your role will be to deter, intervene and monitor antisocial behaviour, disorder and crime and to signpost clients into services. You will represent the Community Safety Team at meetings and be involved in Community projects to engage with the needs of our clients. Working a 7.25 hour shift you will target our hotspot areas and respond to reports from members of the public, businesses and partners on a variety of community safety issues. The successful candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage conflict and difficult situations. You will also be required to work with other partners within the council, the voluntary sector and police whilst providing a frontline service addressing community concerns. This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working with members of the public but who has the confidence to lead, mediate, negotiate and be diplomatic in what can be challenging circumstances. The post holder needs to be physically fit as they will be on their feet for up to 80% of their shift and be prepared to work in all weathers. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation This post requires a Disclosure Check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of this check being deemed satisfactory. Provisional Interview with an assessment to be held: Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd June in Buchan House, Peterhead Informal enquiries to Cheryl Smith Tel 01467 537950 Requirements Key Requirements * Experience of partnership working * Previous experience of dealing with members of the public in a customer facing role * Ability to work in challenging situations * Previous experience handling confrontational situations * Proven IT skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook * Ability to write and assimilate comprehensive and detailed reports, statements and maintain records * Experience of writing reports * Effective communication skills both oral and written * The ability to remain calm and polite under pressure * Ability to work proactively and without close supervision
