Center for Biopharmaceuticals and Biobarriers in Drug Delivery Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge Programme Applications are invited for a two-years Postdoc position in NanoBiophotonics for Light Robotics. The postdoc project is part of the interdisciplinary research activities in the new Center for Biopharmaceuticals and Biobarriers in Drug Delivery funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge Programme for oral drug delivery of biopharmaceuticals. This project will be hosted at DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) but will involve close collaboration with the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen and Univ. British Columbia, Vancouver Canada. The position offers professional development opportunities including mobility with potential research stays in collaborators labs. in Europe, Japan or North America. Responsibilities and tasks The postdoc will develop new light robotic systems and methods tailored for unprecedented control and precision in the study of biological mechanisms in drug delivery of biopharmaceutical through biobarriers. Light Robotics is an emerging approach to develop novel nanobiophotonics solutions by leveraging and integrating developments in optical micromanipulation, microfabrication, microfluidics, advanced light sources, microscopy and nanophotonics. This project builds upon the leading light robotics expertise and platform available at DTU Fotonik and is supported by DTU’s advanced infrastructure for micro/nanofabrication and nanoscopy. This project will explore a number of approaches and integrate suitable methods into a new light robotics platform to be tested and validated together with biomedical collaborators. The postdoc will work together with collaborators and contribute to the supervision of students (PhD students, Master students, special courses, etc.). The postdoc is also expected to contribute to fundraising efforts in the group. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree in optics and photonics engineering, applied physics, micro/nanotechnology or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the PhD degree. An ideal candidate will be self-driven and possess strong management and laboratory skills to conduct and manage research independently based on actual research experience within relevant fields such as experimental biophotonics, microfabrication, optical trapping, lab-on-chip systems, advanced microscopy and optical systems development. At the same time the candidate should be able to function well in a team and possess good communication skills in written and spoken English for the extensive networking and scientific dissemination activities in the project.
