The University of Oslo is Norway's oldest and highest ranked educational and research institution, with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. With its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally recognised research communities, UiO is an important contributor to society.
The Centre for Educational Measurement at the University of Oslo (CEMO) provides a stimulating research environment by bringing internationally renowned substantive and methodological experts together. The centre is part of a broad international network and manages several externally funded research grants.Jobbnorge ID: 138748
CEMO seeks to build a portfolio of research on educational measurement relating to the Norwegian context. Among other things, this context includes several centrally administered assessments (national tests, screening tests, exams etc.), international assessments (PISA, TIMSS, etc.), and well-developed and accessible national registers which makes it possible to couple data from these assessments to a range of other data-sources. Two fully-funded (100%), three-year PhD positions with a possible extension to four years (including 25% duty work, f. ex. teaching) are attached to this research context.
Particularly welcome are candidates who intend to do research on the validity of the inferences that the Norwegian assessments are intended to support and proposals seeking to link assessments, for instance linking international assessments to the national context or linking national assessments over several grades to enable the study of growth or profiles for individuals and/or schools. The PhD candidates will be part of a project group with a focus on this national context. Central features of the national assessment system are briefly described in English through the webpage www.udir.no/english. In addition CEMO has developed an overarching framework for research on the national context, also in English (available through this link). The degree to which mastery of the Norwegian language is needed for the position will depend on specific features of the research proposal, but is not a prerequisite for applying. For more information please contact the project leaders professor Rolf Vegar Olsen (r.v.olsencemo.uio.no) or professor Sigrid Blömeke (cemo.uio.no" rel="nofollow">sigriblcemo.uio.no).
