Maths Teacher Required for an Academy School in Oxfordshire Salary: Main Pay Scale, Standard (calculate your pay ) Start Date: September 2017 Contract Length: one year with the possibility of being extended About the school The main school is a beautiful 15th century building surrounded by more modern and very well resourced additional build which enhance the school's features. There are approximately 2100 pupils aged 11 to 18 on the school roll. Ofsted have rated this specialist sports Academy as "Outstanding" across all areas of its most recent inspection. Student's attainment is high and they make fast and effective progress whilst thriving in the environment where expectations are high. They have a great capacity for independent learning and organise themselves effectively with a high regard for their education. Their behaviour and attitude is exemplary and they play a leading role in the school's extensive program of links with the local and wider community. The school maintains the ethos of "healthy body, healthy mind" and this permeates the school's work, ensuring high levels of participation in a range of sporting, cultural and community events. Teaching is also outstanding within the school and the curriculum has been described as strong and successful. The Headteacher promotes a very clear vision and distributes his leadership very effectively through an able senior team and well organised faculty structure. Significant processes are in place to monitor performance, self-evaluation and development planning to ensure that the whole school is continuously focused on improvement. Parents and carers also have overwhelmingly positive views of the school's provision and leadership in all regards. Mathematics is a very strong and popular subject at this school. This is due to the skill and commitment of a team of 18 teachers. Expectations both of students and of team members are high. There is an emphasis on team work and mutual support which has enabled the faculty to meet the continuing challenge of new initiatives with confidence. Although staff are based on one of the two sites, most have a timetable which includes work across the whole school. The Mathematics Faculty has a high standard of accommodation with its own suite of rooms on each site also with access to ICT rooms. We are fortunate to have Maths Alive software as well as other titles such as Autograph and GSP. We have many other resources, for example the whole of the 10 Ticks resource bank as well as access to internet based sites such as Maths Net and MYMaths. About the area Thame is a market town and civil parish in Oxfordshire, 9, miles east of the city Oxford and 7 miles from the Buckinghamshire town of Aylesbury. Trade in the town's boat-shaped marketplace helped farmers to showcase their local produce for 800 years. On Tuesdays the Upper High Street becomes an open-air deli, with local fruit and veg ripe for the picking. Cheekily, the Bishop of Lincoln once re-routed the roads from nearby Aylesbury so more visitors came to market. His efforts paid off: the annual country show is England's greatest. A museum traces the town's history, including reference to famous historical faces who lived here. Thame is a popular location for the filming of television programmes such as Midsummer Murders and the town hall regularly appears at its alter-ego Causton town hall. Local food from nearby farmers often appears on pub, tea room and restaurant menus. The Players Theatre is one a number of cultural attractions in the town with wide variety of performing arts, with music from Opera to Jazz and plays from Shakespeare to Pantomime.
