The Position You will work as part of a multidisciplinary Mental Health Service delivering high quality mental health care in accordance with Mental Health Service principles and National Mental Health Standards. You will participate in the on call roster, clinical reviews and provide consultancy services for other team members across the treatment settings, maintaining close links with other specialists, general practitioners and service providers will ensure continuity of patient care and the ongoing development of the mental health sector. Working alongside a supportive and highly experienced psychiatric team, you will provide comprehensive general adult psychiatric service with regards to assessment and treatment of adult mental health clients at various sites across the northern region of Tasmania including inpatient settings and community clinics. Some teaching and supervision of psychiatric registrars and medical students may be required. It is essential to maintain a satisfactory knowledge of major evidence-based practice research findings in area of clinical practice and participation in appropriate formal continuing medical education. The Hospital This 300-bed public hospital provides acute care facilities for residents of the northern region of Tasmania. Every year the hospital treats over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients yearly. The Mental Health Service itself consists of a 20-bed inpatient unit, including 3 high dependency beds. Essential Criteria Applicants must hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Alternatively you must be eligible for AHPRA registration, possess equivalent qualifications and be eligible for FRANZCP.
