Industrialisation > New Product Introduction > NPI Blades Operating within Power Solutions, the New Product Introduction role is to ensure that products under development and in production are non-conformance handled, with continuous improvement, to reduce the non-conformance across the production factories, maintaining product quality. Vestas has multiple factories that manufacture blades based worldwide. The blades are made with wide varieties of composite materials, processes, and production techniques. The Blade Support Engineer will drive the non-conformance from factories and continuous improvement to control the non-conformities across the factories to maintain blade product quality. Reponsibilities The blade support engineer is to focus on technical solutions and support functions, which will meet our demand for local content rules concerning merger markets supporting all platforms. The main purpose of the blade support engineer is to ensure that technical decisions for non-conformities and support on blade repair methods use a statistical approach for continuous improvement. Facilitate and coordinate stakeholders. Participate in non-conformance and continuous improvement process. Interface with design, material, process, production engineering, and QSE. Change management process. Understanding and make changes in product with this process. Owning the responsibilities of blade repair documentation. Support production quality and QSE. Qualifications Relevant engineering degree – preferably B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical / Composites. Minimum 5 years’ experience in related position. Strong knowledge of composite materials and process. Firm Knowledge of blade manufacturing. Firm knowledge within localization process, with special focus on composite manufacturing. Strong mechanical and composite knowledge. Ability to review and understand mechanical design, composite material and systems. Ability to review material defects. On a high level, understand the mechanical system in wind blade production, and how the mechanical system interacts with other systems. Understanding of the behavior of composite materials and design. Within the blade production process, high understanding of how the composite manufacturing process interfaces with different materials and tooling. Systems knowledge to include understanding of non-conformance, continuous improvement, engineering change management systems, and ERP systems. Competencies Excellent documentation skills, insights, and experiences. Ability to define technical solutions and implement these in close collaboration with the business. Ability to multi-task, results driven, able to make strategic decisions, upward communication skills, develop reports and presentations. Ability to prioritize under pressure. Self-motivated, results oriented, and always raising the bar for yourself. Strong commercial and business mind set with an understanding of technical systems. Fluency in English, both in writing and verbal.
