What's involved with this role: A Lawyer is required to provide specialist and proactive legal advice and assistance across a range of areas arising within the post holder’s area of responsibility.
Key responsibilities: Advising, reviewing and drafting, as necessary, relating to general commercial projects, procurement and commercial matters Procurement challenges and contractual disputes Advising client departments on governance issues, including advice on Financial Regulations and the Council’s Constitution Advising on Business Cases, Cabinet and Cabinet Member reports Attending officer and Council Member meetings.

Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this.
Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice.
A Solicitor, either with a current practising certificate or eligible to apply for a practising certificate, or a qualified Barrister or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, or possessing an equivalent qualification gained in another jurisdiction.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Experience of both civil and criminal litigation work in a local government environment.
Experience in Contract Law.
Ability to manage a complex caseload.
Ability to prepare and present high quality written reports and complex legal documents.
Strong effective communicator.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages.
Other preferable/desirable details to include on your CV, if applicable: Any local authority/public sector experience.
Any relevant qualifications held or being studied for.
