Applications are invited for a substantive post of 5 Programmed Activities in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine. Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham QEHB is part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and is recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK with an international reputation for quality of care, information technology, clinical training and research. We provide adult services to over 800,000 patients every year. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns and plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe. The Trust employs more than 8,000 staff and moved into the new £545m Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham building in June 2010. HIV Department provides care for over 1400 people living with HIV. We operate 11 weekly clinics on weekdays and Saturdays. We have a 24 on-call service for our unselected HIV referrals, those for post exposure prophylaxis against HIV, and complex sexually transmitted infections. Our ward cover provides management of in-patient HIV care, support of HIV outpatient with abnormal results and complex medical needs. The sexual health service branded as Umbrella provides an integrated sexual health service to the entire population of Birmingham and Solihull. The main hub is based at the purpose-built Whittall Street Clinic in Birmingham. There are seven satellite clinics and several community clinics. It deals with approximately over 100,000 patient-episodes per annum. This post provides an opportunity to join an established and proactive medical team. The post will provide excellent training and clinical experience in HIV medicine and Sexual Health. Applicants must have at least two years experience in general medicine as a CT or equivalent. Previous experience in genitourinary medicine or infectious diseases would be desirable. Applicants must be on the GMC register and hold a licence to practice.
