BURTON HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST PART TIME 30 HOURS PER WEEK PERMANENT BAND 6 £26,565 - £35,577 PER ANNUM PRO RATA An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our small friendly hospital team. You will work with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties on the acute medical and surgical wards at Queen’s Hospital Burton. You will also work with adults requiring rehabilitation and discharge planning in the Community Hospitals at Lichfield and Tamworth. You will have experience of working with adults with acquired neurological and respiratory disorders, and have specialist skills in dysphagia management. There may also be opportunities to provide out-patient rehabilitation – for example, to patients discharged home from our Acute Stroke Unit. Expressions of interest would also be welcome for any additional bank hours. You will have excellent support from clinical colleagues and receive regular clinical supervision. There are well-established team meetings and CPD is well supported. You will be encouraged to take part in service development projects – the department has recently assisted in changes to oral care and risk feeding protocols, for example. You will also be expected to support students on placement from Birmingham City University.
