Specialist in Breast Imaging - Department of Breast Imaging

Exciting opportunity at the Landspitali Breast Center!

We are looking for an ambitious specialist in breast imaging who is interested in participating in the development of the specialty and the development of the Breast Center's multidisciplinary team. The department is the only one of its kind in the country and is therefore a leader in the service nationwide. Family-friendly job where the work arrangement is day work.

The employment rate is 100%, but negotiable, and the position is available from January 1, 2026 or by further agreement. The next manager is the Chief Physician of the Department of Breast Imaging.

The Breast Center is a central point of service for individuals with diseases and symptoms of the breast, as well as overseeing the implementation of breast screening in Iceland. Great emphasis is placed on multidisciplinary collaboration and a service-oriented approach as the activities are constantly developing. The department provides a wide range of services and is at the forefront of breast imaging nationally. The working conditions are good and the department is very well equipped.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    General breast radiologist work, including clinical breast imaging, screening and multidisciplinary conferences

•    Specialist advice at Landspitali and to other institutions and professionals

•    Teaching and guidance for healthcare professionals

•    Scientific research related to the specialty

•    Participation in quality and improvement work

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

•    Icelandic medical license and specialist license in Radiology

•    Positive attitude and interpersonal skills

•    If Icelandic is not the native language, good skills and knowledge of English are required

•    At least 3 years of experience in breast imaging with an emphasis on diagnostic breast imaging and screening

•    Experience in reading MRI scans of the breast is an advantage, but not required

•    Experience in teaching and scientific work

Salary according to the current collective agreement concluded by the Minister of Finance and the Economy and the Medical Association of Iceland.
