Job Title: Spacecraft Database Engineer Location: Stevenage Duration: 12 months Airbus Defence & Space are currently looking for a Spacecraft Database Engineer to join their team in Stevenage on a 12 month contract. If you have experience with databases within an engineering context and have a proficient understanding of Java and SQL, please read on and apply below! Job Summary The Spacecraft Database contains the definition of all Telemetry and Telecommands from/to the Spacecraft, and key data needed for the Development and Verification of the Spacecraft avionics Job Profile · To support the ExoMars Rover Satellite Reference Database (SRDB) Architect in the development, verification, validation and release of data to users · To support SRDB patches (e.g. creating and executing Java Scripts or SQL scripts) and the investigation of problems during tests related to the SRDB (e.g. analysis of test data). The investigation will require experience with working with engineering data at functional level (the function of the data) down to bit level (knowledge of data types, endian etc). · To follow and suggest improvements to SRDB processes e.g data import, processing Database Problem/Change Report (DPR) Process and where applicable perform necessary changes, testing and updates to any relevant documentation. · To keep up to date the Master DB DPRs within the DPR system (JIRA software) (e.g. highlighting where patches have been made, marking patched DPRs for Master DB attention and generally keeping the DPR 'thread' of information and DPR status up to date) · To import, review and provide feedback on received Software Supplier, Equipment and Payload Instrument data · To support the release of Master databases in line with schedule requirements to AIV, FV & final customer and provision of sufficient release information in a release note for each DB release (DPR patches implemented, relevant OBSW DB is compatible with, etc.) · To support the Master Database Architect wrt Database validation · To make updates re-useable (i.e. Java scripts, SQL scripts) to optimise the process of incorporating patches onto different versions. · To keep informed all database users of the Database Management Tool of any activities impacting access (from info from Database Architect) Skills/Experience Required Essential Proven experience with: Databases within an engineering context Working within a test environment Working in an industrial mind set (i.e. change management, configuration control, validation process capabilities) Proficiency with Java and SQL Desirable Space engineering background in an avionics functional domain VBA Database Data Management (e.g. Microsoft Access database, MySQL) within an engineering context Good communication skills and training experience Experience of Bug Tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Redmine, and Bugzilla) The recruiter has stated that all applicants for this job should be able to prove they are legally entitled to work in the UK.
