Clasificación del trabajo: Profesionales científicos e intelectuales.
Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:
We are seeking a talented individual to undertake a pivotal role in the next phase of basic and translational research around the Wolbachia/nematode symbiosis for A·WOL (https://awol.lstmed.ac.uk) and the Filariasis Lab (headed by Professor Mark Taylor - https://www.lstmed.ac.uk/about/people/professor-mark-taylor).
The main scope of the role this post will be to lead the next phase of research to progress our knowledge of the basic biology and translational aspects of exploiting Wolbachia as a drug target.
This includes drug target identification, mode-of-action of new fast-acting anti-wolbachial drugs and polyomic approaches to further understand the nature of the mutualistic association.
This will include genomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic and proteomic analysis of key stages of the life-cycle of Brugia malayi and other filarial nematodes.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biomedical Research.
Training in bioinformatics and polyomic experimentation and analysis and relevant Health & Safety legislation and procedures is essential.
You will have proven experience in molecular biology analysis and techniques, and experience of working with Wolbachia (or other intracellular bacteria) nematodes and/or parasitic helminths would be desirable.
This post will jointly manage and be supported by a PDRA in parasitology/cell biology, a PDRA in metabolomics/proteomics, a PDRA in genomics/bioinformatics and a Senior Research Technician.
It is a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Research Associate to get first-hand experience of research in a vibrant global health environment.
The post holder will be based in Liverpool.
